The awards will be given first through third and they will include world trophies, tool gift certificates and a few other prizes.

In June of 2012, Isuzu sent letters out to all dealerships stating that they were looking for technicians to compete in the competition. The North American representatives go through a screening procedure before they are chosen. Technicians are currently in training for the month of October at Isuzus office, which is located in Anaheim, California. Frank is currently in California taking part in competition training.

Frank will be out there competing against the rest of the world. The competition is basically a test of skills, which will involve fixing a problem economically and quickly. Frank is one of the best technicians in North America, which is why he has made it this far. During the completion, Frank will try his hardest, while people in North America cheer for him.

The popularity of pickup trucks, at 55% of North American production through August, boosts white in the rankings. A quarter of all pickup trucks come in white, compared with 19% of midsized cars made in North America. The reason? Many businesses prefer white for their pickup trucks, since it makes their logos and on-truck ads stand out more sharply.

PPG's manager of color styling for car makers Jane Harrington attributes the rebound of white, which had seen its popularity wane since the 1980s, to the natural connotations with glossy high-tech devices, such as think of Apple stores and iMacs. The rise in popularity is partially due to the increasing varieties of white now used. Types of white ranging from the vibrant and bright to rich and creamy shades can be found on a variety of vehicle types.

Harrington adds silvers popularity likely comes for its suggestion of high-tech and designers favoring it for its ability to highlight every aspect of a cars appearance. "Silver looks great on any design," she says.

In developing its color offerings, paint makers start working with manufacturers on color choices three or four years before a new model debuts. Manufacturers lock in their color choices for a vehicle two or three years before going into production. PPG monitors color trends from the worlds of fashion, interior design, and elsewhere. Harrington says after seeing purple prominently featured at a recent Parisian home color show, she went to work on a purplish-gray auto paint.

PPG is now showing automakers 64 color options ors for the 2015 and 2016 model years, including Al Fresco, a metallic silver with a greenish tone; Glacier, a chilly gray with an undertone of violet blue; and Elixir, a metallic combination of silver and magenta. Harrington predicts more cars, particularly luxury models, will offer earthy brown and orange tones over the next few years.

Color preferences also differ by location. Buyers in North America are more likely to favor red vehicles than those elsewhere, while Europeans prefer black and gray over silver. In Asia, drivers are more likely to choose tan or gold, but shun green. Blue cars, however, manage a consistent 7% in each region.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 01, 2012 ) United Kingdom -- No more talking on the phone while behind the wheel for new drivers in Wisconsin. Effective November 1st, Wisconsinites with an instruction permit or probationary license will be prohibited from using a cellphone while driving, except in cases of reporting an emergency. The largest group affected by the new law will be teenagers.

Many states, including Oregon and Washington, have already adopted laws prohibiting any cellphone use while driving for all drivers. The rationale behind the ban comes from studies that have shown that driving while talking on the phone is a form of distracted driving that delays reaction times in drivers equivalent to driving drunk. While the Wisconsin law does not prohibit other drivers from using their mobile phones while driving, the practice is still discouraged.

Drivers caught violating the new law after November first will be fined from $20-$40 for a first offense and $50-$100 for a second offense committed within one year.

The law hopes to cut down on driving fatalities in Wisconsin-teens, a cause of death that Wisconsin State Patrol Major Sandra Huxtable, who is also the state director of the Bureau of Transportation Safety, says is the #1 cause of death for Americas teens:

In a national study, 43% of 16 and 17 year-olds said they have talked on a cell phone while driving and 40% of teens up to age 17 said they have been in a car when the driver used a cell phone in a way that put themselves or others in danger.

The new law affects: drivers licensed in other countries, drivers with suspended or revoked instructional permits or probationary licenses, new state residents with fewer than three years of driving experience, new state residents under the age of 21, and new state residents who surrender a license that has been expired for more than six months.

The special edition X1 dubbed the Powder Ride Edition -- was developed in cooperation with ski-maker K2.

The car will have its debut at this years Los Angeles Auto Show and go on sale in November.

The exclusively high-quality K2 LTD Powder Ride skis are not the only feature the X1 offers it was designed with all-wheel drive to make the ride to the ski resort more comfortable and boasts additional cabin storage, a snowboard bag, roof box and all-weather floor mats.

The vehicle is no slouch in the city, though. It comes with four-cylinder, 240-horsepower or straight-six, 300-horsepower engines options. Buyers can get metallic finishes in black sapphire, gray, silver, orange or white, or in black or white non-metallic finishes.
It has other features of BMWs X-line: ambient lighting, leather-trimmed seats and steering wheel, 18-inch alloy rims and roof rails with an aluminum satin finish.

The Powder Ride Edition will only be available this winter.

BMW will be presenting a concept version of the X1 at the Los Angeles show as well the Concept K2 Power Ride. It, too, was developed with K2, but this vehicle has a custom ski rack, two luggage boxes, an elevated ride height and special 19-inch alloy rims. On the inside is an integrated sound system by Harman Kardon.

The K2 also is distinguished by its roof, made from milled aluminum.

The car show in Los Angeles is set for November.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 01, 2012 ) United Kingdom -- Insurance claims soar when hired cars are involved, according to a recent study by the Office of Fair Trading. Average insurance claims involving hired cars exceed those of normal claims by up to £500, the OFT claims.

These findings have been referred to the Competition Commission, who have been urged to look into the matter. The OFT does not believe that the considerable bump in claim cost has been caused by drivers, but is symptomatic of the dysfunctional makeup of the car insurance industry.

The report on the auto insurance market, a 9.2 billion euro industry, was completed in May of this year and, now after a public consultation, the OFT has elected to refer the matter to the Competition Commission. The Commission will have two years to compile a report of its own and weigh in on the matter separately.

Chief among the concerns raised by the OFT is that drivers who are found to be liable in accidents have little to no control over the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged vehicles involved.

The OFT report released this spring told of repairs to damaged vehicles being hired out for more money and more billable time than should have been required. The Office of Fair Trading found that repairs to hired cars were overbilled by £155, bringing the average cost to £560.

The report implicated insurers as well as hire firms and repair garages for artificially inflating the cost of repairs and padding their earnings with fees, costs and other premiums of £225 million per year.

The Association of British Insurers, ABI, says that they welcome the review and claim that the OFT has formally uncovered an issue that insurers have known for years - that claims made by at-fault drivers must contend with costs that are largely out of the hands of insurers.

ABI director of general insurance Nick Starling had this to say about the matter, In particular, for too long insurers have faced inflated rates for credit hire cars and excessive hire periods, which have led to higher insurance premiums for customers.

Regulation of all players in the market to tackle excessive costs is needed, and we look forward to working with the Competition Commission to bring much needed reforms to the market that will, in turn, result in lower car insurance premiums for consumers.

A study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development also found Australians ranked low in e-commerce.

Australias Labor Party has vowed that within 10 years, high-speed fiber-optic cable will connect 93% of premises to the Internet. The rest would be linked by wireless and satellite.

But in the OECD study, which was released in Budapest, Australia was 25th for using fiber to bring broadband to homes or buildings.

About 1% of broadband connections in Australia are through fiber. In Japan, that figure is over 60%. But in Australia, more households can access broadband Internet (73%) than can households in OECD, about 66%.

Browsing the Web through mobile devices is popular among Australians, the study found. Non-computer devices account for more than 5% of Web traffic in Australia. The country ranks just after Japan, the United Kingdom, and United States.

Although the number of mobile phone subscriptions has surged around the world, doubling since 2005, Australians remain reluctant to enter online transactions. Only 5% of companies annual turnover in 2011 came from e-commerce.

It suggests that there will need to be cultural change, John OMahony, associate director at Deloitte Access Economics, told the Brisbane Times. By some measures, Australians are taking up these new technologies quickly, like buying smartphones, but some of the uses of them are obviously behind.

He said the digital infrastructure needed to be upgraded, adding that the fiber network put Australia behind a fair few countries that wouldnt normally be considered digital leaders.

The OECD report said the network would determine the fate of online business.

The future of the Internet economy depends on whether users, businesses and governments feel safe using the network and trust it for critical applications and services, the report stated.
